NetDespatch has announced that "Indigo" the popular transport management system from Neil Porter Associates (NPA) is the first software application to win full 'NetDespatch Ready' accreditation.

Courier and express delivery companies using the Indigo system can now utilise a wide variety of web services from NetDespatch without having to purchase any extra hardware or software. Their customers can use the leading-edge Velocity web shipping and tracking system, their controllers can produce labels for a wide variety of overnight and international parcel carriers at the click of a mouse, and their drivers can send in proof of delivery signatures over GPRS from a range of hand-held devices.

Indigo is a sophisticated yet simple to use PC system for the complete management of multi-modal transport companies, from job entry through to invoicing. Indigo has ensured that integration with NetDespatch is always seamless and immediate. It continuously checks for jobs booked or changed on NetDespatch, and the colour-coded easy-to-read dispatch screens are immediately updated with booking, tracking and proof of delivery information entered on the web servers.

Electronic communication for Indigo users is further enhanced through the use of NetDespatch's Velocity Connector.  This innovative application not only allows jobs to be automatically transferred from a variety of customer systems including e-commerce web sites, sales order
processing systems and warehouse management applications; but the bar-code labels can be printed at any location in the world. At the other end of the process it also allows an Indigo controller to allocate a delivery to an overnight or international partner - automatically booking the job on line and immediately printing the correct parcel label for onward despatch.

For Indigo users, the days of double-keying data and lengthy customer service phone calls are gone! "Users of Indigo increasingly come across NetDespatch as a method of booking overnight jobs through major parcel carriers such as Amtrak, Lynx and APC.  To be able to offer a similar web booking service on their own websites - whether for sameday, overnight or international deliveries, is seen as a big advantage. The integration of NetDespatch and Indigo creates the ultimate system - providing a seamless flow of information and elimination of data entry and paperwork at every stage" says Neil Porter, Director of NPA.
