Launch of YardTrak and iTrak at CV Show 2006

Unisto Electronic Seals will be launching YardTrak and iTrak, the latest additions to its GateSuite vehicle security and logistics system at the Commercial Vehicle and Automotive Trade Show 2006 on stand 5197.

The GateSuite software system is a DC Management Information Solution, which enables users to manage their docks, goods in and goods out, tractors, trailers, maintenance schedules, drivers, shunter operations, and gatehouse security.  In fact, it manages all DC activities outside the warehouse walls.  The key to the system is RFID on tractors and trailers, which enables their location to be checked at all times and, by using the option of Unistos electronic re-usable RFID electronic seals, the system is enhanced to show the security and status of all assets.

YardTrak
YardTrak is a Yard Management System (YMS) that can operate either as a standalone system or as part of GateSuite.  It integrates with RFID transponders on trailers and tractors using RFID readers around the Yard, Gate House, and additionally with handheld computers used on the docks and shunters that run the iTrak software, which links into GateSuite to provide access to the status of assets.

The yard is recreated as a simulation on a PC screen giving detailed visibility of activity within the yard, in real-time, with the status and location of trailers and tractor units.  At a glance, the manager can see any problems immediately.

YardTrak ensures that trailers are on the right dock at the right time and then shunted to the correct waiting bay to maximise the efficient running of the DC based on real time information.

By integrating Unistos RFID-equipped electronic security seals, the level of information is further enhanced to show the security of the load and any unauthorised access or temperature fluctuation outside of preset boundaries automatically activates an alarm.

iTrak
iTrak provides access to all the information and status contained in GateSuite can be accessed on a hand-held PDA running the iTrak application.  Using Wi-Fi networks, it enables any mobile operative such as a dock loader, shunter{yard jockey} or security guard to have up-to-the-minute information of everything that is going on.  This eliminates the need for multiple mobile radio instructions as loaders and shunters receive instructions directly on their PDA, which, being visual rather than verbal, also reduces the possibility of misunderstandings.

Welcomed by drivers and management
The first customer for GateSuite with YardTrak and iTrak is Nisa-Todays, which is the UKs leading buying and distribution company for independent retailers and wholesalers.  Primarily specified to increase the security of trailers when in transit, and when loaded and waiting for delivery at the companys new main depot in Scunthorpe, UK, GateSuite has also proved invaluable for improving the logistics of delivering 1.2 million cases every week to a choice of 2750 delivery points.

We fitted seals to our fleet of 150 trailers, explained Jeremy Blakey, Director of Re-Vision Logistics, which is co-ordinating the project.  GateSuite has delivered both security and increased operational efficiency 24/7.  It is unusual to have something that is universally welcomed throughout a company.  I am particularly pleased that both the management and drivers think that the system is marvellous and beneficial.
