Paxar EMEA, part of Paxar Corporation, the world's leading provider of fully integrated and innovative labelling, merchandising and identification solutions for retailers and apparel manufacturers is pleased to provide an update on its Monarch Pathfinder Ultra Platinum 6039 (Ultra) printer, officially launched in October 2005.
A comparison study carried out on the Ultra has shown outstanding results in terms of operational efficiency, usability, drop test and battery life.
Operational Performance and Suitability Study
A comparison study was conducted to benchmark the operational performance and suitability of the Ultra alongside comparable two-piece mobile computer/ printer alternatives for use within retail application environments. The main findings were as follows:
- In a comparison of operational efficiency for two separate scenarios the one handed scan/ print/ apply design of the Ultra demonstrated significant time saving over the other solutions;
- In a usability comparison, the Ultra scored well in each category and in particular suitability for environment, print speed and ease of printer roll changes;
- The Ultras environment drop test specification was impressive, the comparison shows that combined computer/ printer groupings are comparable or heavier than the Ultra; and
- The battery life of the Ultra was far superior (more than double) than that of the other groups. Based on a given applications duty cycle this may well translate to a significant benefit to the user.
The overall conclusion of the study showed that the Ultra delivers a unique, efficient one-piece solution for scan/ print/ apply applications. In terms of performance efficiency the Ultra delivered significant improvement of up to 37% in test scenarios versus a conventional two-piece mobile computer + printer solution. Where frequent markdown or re-ticketing activities are undertaken by the retailer the Ultra will deliver a productivity improvement.
A separate ergonomic study of the Ultra showed findings that indicate the printer provides many excellent ergonomic features, providing comfort, enhancing grip security, promoting neutral hand/arm postures and helping to minimise the grip forces involved in operating the printer.
Partnership with Wavelength
Paxar has also entered into a licensing partnership with Wavelink, a leading developer of multi-vendor mobile application and infrastructure management software. Through this agreement Paxar customers will benefit from the ability to centrally manage their mobile devices throughout the wireless LAN lifecycle using Wavelength Avalanche, the industry proven, multi-vendor mobile device management solution for the auto-identification and data collection industry. Using this, Paxar customers can now deploy, manage and secure Paxars Monarch brand bar code and RFID products including the Ultra from a central console.
Max Tatford, Marketing Manager at Paxar commented: We are delighted with the results from both the comparison and ergonomic studies of the Ultra. It further proves that the Ultra will deliver superior operational efficiency in the retail industry over typical two-piece solutions. The findings from the ergonomic study also show that the printer was made with key features in mind to increase comfort and promote good work practices for the end-user. Our partnership with Wavelength is yet another way we can add value and satisfy the needs of our customers as technology becomes an increasingly important function in their day to day operations.
