Major Bed Manufacturer Invests In SYSPRO

Bed manufacturer, Millbrook Beds Ltd, is aiming to bring greater visibility of information within the company, and to suppliers and customers, by implementing a fully integrated SYSPRO manufacturing, financial and distribution system from McGuffie Brunton.

Millbrook Beds has built a strong brand awareness for its handcrafted pocket sprung beds sold by leading UK retailers. The Company plans to fully replace its existing character based IT software by going live with SYSPRO in May 2006. According to Andrew Longland, IT Manager for Millbrook Beds, SYSPROs adaptability was a key driving force behind the companys decision to select the ERP system and McGuffie Brunton.

Andrew Longland commented: We wanted to give our users better facilities, more efficient ways of working, and greater visibility of information. We felt SYSPRO was the best fit for our business. It is so flexible, we can use it in many different ways, and adapt it to our companys requirements.

With SYSPRO, Millbrooks management have been able to make certain modules available to users who do not need the full SYSPRO suite of applications. The company is planning to provide a lower specification terminal to shop floor users, who will be able to access the system through a web browser with limited functionality.

Millbrook plans to further to utilise SYSPROs capabilities by using the e.net functionality to create supplier and customer portals. This would allow suppliers to view stock inventories and replenish the materials store. Customers will have the facility to place and track orders online- saving on the time and cost of making telephone calls to their customer services department.

McGuffie Brunton is also using the e.net architecture to write a bespoke sales order entry screen for the bed company in order to create a more efficient sales order entry system.

As Andrew Longland concludes: Having a tailor-made system will make sales order entry much more efficient. Not only this, but as a whole, implementing SYSPRO will enable us to monitor manufacturing and deliveries on a closer scale, improve efficiency, reduce costs and offer a better service level overall.
