Kangaroo chose the Datalogic Formula Color terminal to increase this control as its features fulfil the requirements of a busy warehouse. The ergonomics of the terminal are all-important when in constant use; the Formula Color is the perfect size, it is robust without being cumbersome or heavy. The colour screen means that information is easy to read and the added feature of a belt clip is helpful in Kangaroos warehouse environment where the terminal needs to be easily accessible at all times.

Historically Kangaroo have outsourced all of their IT requirements but have become cynical of the sales pitches of many prospective suppliers. Kangaroo were enormously impressed by ExPDs straight talking approach to integrating the Formula Color into their existing IT platform.

We are very aware that the reputation of our own organisation is only as good as that of our selected agents, said Martin, There are a number of suppliers with similar service offering to that of ExPD, but it was clear from the outset that the ExPD team were going to be easy to work with. Their pricing is very reasonable given the dedication & level of service we have received throughout this project.

ExPD implemented 802.11b wireless versions of the Datalogic Formula Color terminal. The primary application is to verify the parcel sortation process immediately prior to despatch. The package label is scanned and validated in real-time against the shipment database to confirm the destination. Any discrepancies are alerted to the supervisor the moment they occur. As a direct result of the new system Kangaroos business processes and controls have been tightened. This completes the UK side of the implementation of their end-to-end tracking. The project is now entering phase 2 where the same system will be rolled out across Kangaroos 4 offices in Australia.
