Having established a position as one of the leading European providers of VMI solutions, Mi Services has worked with Shell Chemical Europe since 1998, delivering a remote VMI solution, which was to be operated and maintained by Shell employees in Pernis, Netherlands. During this period Mi Services has supported Shell staff operating the system, whilst also installing new remote inventory monitoring equipment across locations in Europe.
In the autumn of 2004, Shell Chemicals Europe asked Mi Services to take responsibility for the management of the Pernis VMI connections by migrating them from the remote system to the hosted platform.Working closely with Shells Logistics Development Manager,Toon Rientjens, Mi Services designed a low risk migration plan, allowing no loss in service on the live Shell system. In addition, each of the remote VMI monitoring sites was upgraded and migrated to report to the Mi Services hosted platform.
