Tesco confirmed as latest speaker at GS1 UK EPCglobal Conference and Exhibition on RFID

GS1 UK, the UK authority on global cross-sector supply chain standards, has confirmed Tesco Stores Limited (Tesco) as the latest addition to its speaker line-up for the forthcoming GS1 UK EPCglobal Conference and Exhibition, taking place on 7th June 2005 in the Queen Elizabeth II Centre, London. Tesco joins other industry-leading retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and consultants such as Wal-Mart, Gillette, Microsoft, Auto-ID Services, Ovum and standards experts, EPCglobal who will provide strategic guidance and implementation experience at what promises to be the definitive event on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in the supply chain.

John Clarke, Group Technology Director, Tesco will give an overview of the challenges facing the UKs largest retailer as a pioneering adopter of RFID and the EPCglobal standard and will also share what he has learnt from managing RFID implementations across the organisation.

Also talking about Tesco and its early adoption of RFID in the supply chain will be Cyrus Gilbert-Rolfe, Managing Director, EMEA, OATSystems - a leading RFID technology solution provider. As the retailer prepares to implement RFID across all stores by Christmas 2005, Gilbert-Rolfe will provide an insight into how Tesco is using RFID to benefit its business.

Other highlights of the GS1 UK EPCglobal Conference and Exhibition speaker programme include:
Simon Langford, Manager, RFID Strategy, Wal-Mart will provide an insight into how Wal-Mart is using RFID across more than 5,000 stores, clubs and distribution centres worldwide, and will also discuss the retailers future plans for the technology;

John Morgan, Global RFID Project Director, Astra Zeneca will outline the potential for RFID in the pharmaceutical supply chain to support long-term patient safety and product security;

Ross Hall, CEO, BT Auto-ID Services will advise on implementing RFID in the supply chain, discussing how to decide if an RFID solution is right for your business, the different implementation models available and how to manage the data.
