Memory Lane Cakes, part of the Finsbury Food Group, is the latest company to take on the Shop Floor Integration solution from Sanderson, the leading UK-owned food, formulation and process industry software provider. Worth over 100,000, the new contract will revolutionise recipe weighing and is part of a 4-phase project to integrate shop floor production and warehouse operations with the rest of the business. This will drive out inefficiencies and position the pre-pack cake manufacturer to embrace aggressive expansion plans through organic and acquisitive growth.
Under the contract, Sanderson will replace several standalone weigh scales at the Memory Lane Cakes Cardiff site and the Nicholas & Harris premises in Salisbury, with 14 weigh scales and touch screen PCs. These will link into a central Sanderson server currently used to manage sales and financial processes. Shop floor staff will be able to enter data directly onto the server creating a centralised recipe record that will replace duplicate copies currently held on weigh scales, the Sanderson system and paper files.
Live recipe data will significantly improve traceability and increase control of recipe weighing. By replacing weekly variance information with accurate reports that monitor daily waste, problem areas can be rectified immediately to reduce raw material giveaway. The flexibility of Sandersons software also allows new sites to be quickly incorporated into existing operations, as the business expands or new companies are acquired.
According to Gary Evans, Memory Lanes IT project manager:
The existing weighing solution was too restrictive to meet todays industry requirements or our companys demands. Despite a competitive tender we chose the Sanderson solution as it was the best fit for our business. Although we could have created interfaces to integrate solutions from other vendors, they just didnt match the functionality or the experience offered by Sanderson.
Steve Fisher, Account Director, Sanderson said:
The successful move by Memory Lane Cakes from SAP to Sandersons software and the seamless integration of Nicholas & Harris into wider Group operations, demonstrates Sandersons ability to meet the requirements of food organisations, both large and small. We look forward to working with Finsbury Food Group to meet their long term growth objectives.
