Border Foods Will Improve Operational Control and Customer Service Using RedPrairie Solutions

In preparation for its peak production season, Border Foods, Inc., the world's largest processor of green chile peppers and the largest U.S. processor of jalapeo peppers, will optimize its inventory control and improve customer service using supply chain technology from RedPrairie, a global leader in supply chain technology solutions that enable business process transformation. The food manufacturer selected RedPrairie for its domain expertise in the food and beverage industry. Border Foods plans to implement RedPrairies warehouse management and visibility solutions to meet critical customer service demands. RedPrairie announced the relationship today at its eighth annual user conference and logistics industry summit at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Florida.

We carefully researched supply chain solutions to find the best provider to fit our operational requirements, says Border Foods Chief Executive Officer David Ockleshaw. RedPrairie offers unparalleled functionality and expertise specific to the food and beverage industry. We feel confident they understand our unique distribution environment and will enable us to achieve our business objectives.

RedPrairies warehouse management solution will provide Border Foods automated inventory management and operational efficiency. The solution integrates to any existing legacy, best-of-breed or ERP system, an important factor for Border Foods, since the company needs seamless integration to their JD Edwards (now Oracle) system for quicker implementation and more rapid time to value.

Border Foods will be able to provide enhanced customer service using RedPrairies visibility application, LENS. The solution will enable them to obtain enhanced visibility throughout their extended supply chain to provide customers accurate order status information.

One of Border Foods primary goals is to implement both the warehouse management and visibility solutions across its Deming and Las Cruces, New Mexico sites within 90 days, before peak production season.

Explains Border Foods Senior Vice President of Sales Bob Gats, We outlined an aggressive implementation schedule to meet our customer requirements. RedPrairie assured us they can meet our deadline and demonstrated their successful track record of delivering on-time and on-budget.

In a second implementation phase, Border Foods plans to expand its capabilities to include raw materials handling, extended visibility through its multi-location distribution network and broader ERP integration to JD Edwards work orders and bill of materials.

Adds Steve Nielsen, vice president of operations at Border Foods, Eventually wed like to broaden our range of capabilities for continuous improvement. Thus, it was important to us that RedPrairie also offer a broad suite of advanced supply chain applications.

RedPrairies comprehensive, integrated solutions suite includes: warehouse management; transportation management; workforce performance management; event management; slotting; visibility; performance measurement; and RFID.

RedPrairie Company Leader John Jazwiec says, Mid-sized companies increasingly require state-of-the-art supply chain suites to remain competitive. RedPrairies flexible, customer-focused services approach, industry leading solutions and deep expertise enable these companies to achieve exceptional and rapid return on investment.
