EXEL SUPPORTS LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES' CUSTOMER DELIVERY STRATEGY IN EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA

Exel, the global leader in supply chain management, has been selected to provide a range of new logistics services for Lucent Technologies (Lucent) in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

The contract involves a 20-strong Exel team working at Lucent's site to manage a whole range of supply chain activities from planning and scheduling through to confirming sales transactions to support Lucent's Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) customer delivery strategy.

Exel will also be responsible for supporting Lucent's EMEA Virtual Manufacturing Operations and this includes managing data set-up and backlog monitoring in support of Lucent's suppliers and buyers.

Michael O'Donoghue, Exel's Managing Director in Ireland, commented, "We have been working with Lucent for many years and this latest development demonstrates our commitment to developing tailored solutions to support Lucent's changing business needs."

"Increasingly we are required to place on-site teams at our customers' facilities and this is now a core competence for us in Ireland. We now have nine on-site Exel teams working alongside our customers across many industry sectors, from two-person shipping teams to 50-strong teams, providing full supply chain services to support manufacturing operations. Our people are fully-integrated into our customers' operations ensuring we are working closely together to achieve common objectives," added O'Donoghue.
