Infor Global Solutions matches its recent news about acquiring the companies Lilly Software, Mercia Software and MAPICS by announcing today that three small to medium-size enterprise (SME) manufacturing businesses in the United Kingdom have placed orders to purchase Infor VISUAL integrated supply chain management systems.

The three companies are TD Packaging, based in Swindon, one of Europe's largest independent companies specializing in contract packaging of pharmaceutical and nutritional products; A.H.Garner Ltd., a manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders for construction, materials handling, access, agricultural and waste processing equipment, based in Nottingham; and Electraplas, the parent company of Mintdale Engineering, a sub-contractor located in Chesterfield, that makes high-precision metal and plastic parts for various industries in this country and abroad.

Reasons the companies chose Infor VISUAL include the following:

ELECTRAPLAS

Chris Toyne, chairman of Electraplas and its subsidiary, Mintdale Engineering, said: "In spite of much commodity production going to countries where manufacturing costs are lower, we have created an increasing demand for Mintdale Engineering's services in this country by investing in the best equipment and skills we can afford, including advanced software such as Infor VISUAL. These robust resources enable us to take on high quality and complex work few if any competitors are able to address.

"We chose Infor VISUAL," said Toyne, "because the system will make it easier to process the breadth of orders and variations we are asked to produce. We plan to integrate the system directly to CNC machine tools on the shop floor and as a result, improve factory throughput, overall productivity and service to customers. In addition, the Infor system was the only one that would readily accommodate changes in mid-process, which is important to Mintdale Engineering because customers often demand extreme flexibility in supply and delivery."

TD PACKAGING

TD Packaging has grown 30 per cent annually without any ERP system in place, but knew it was necessary to do so now. This was because of its ambitions to grow even further in 2005, including the commissioning of a new site due to open at the beginning of May this year. TD Packaging is investing more than 3 million and as a result will double its production capacity with a total of 19 packaging lines.

"Working with pharmaceutical products we need to have full control of the material flow all the time and Infor had the system to match our needs," said Martin Tedham, Managing Director of TD Packaging. "TDP is known for it's short lead times, flexibility, quality, effective costing and great service. We needed a system that would support us to improve further on this success. We found after substantial market research that Infor VISUAL was the only system that could give us what we needed with a short implementation time and at the right cost."

CUSTOMER CONFIDENCE

Infor Global Solutions is backed by three significant fund management companies in the USA. This funding, coupled to its strong record of expansion, profitability and aggressive plans for future growth, means that within three years the company should be one of the major players in the mid-tier of the ERP market, well able to continue developing leading products and services that will match customers' expectations.

Now twelve and half times larger than it was two and a half years ago, Infor Global Solutions has built up a comprehensive set of products and services, coupled to specialist industry expertise. The company is able to address practically any requirement in manufacturing, warehouse and distribution, plus vertical industries such as engineering, electronics, furniture, aerospace, automotive, defence, chemical, pharmaceutical, paper processing and other sectors. The capability is underpinned by a worldwide network of customer support services (Infor has offices in 30 countries and customers in 45).
