Oracle showcases strength of combined companies

Oracle today announced how the nearly 50,000-strong combined workforce of Oracle and PeopleSoft will provide unparalleled innovation and support to 23,000 applications customers throughout the world.

At an event at its headquarters, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and his top executives showcased the new application organisation; product and global support plans; and discussed Oracle's market share strength, particularly in specific industries. Oracle executives provided details on the strategies and capabilities of the combined companies, and the speed at which Oracle has moved to support users of Oracle, PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards application software.

"We have brought together some of the greatest people, products and resources in the enterprise software industry. We are in a stronger position than ever before to offer leading technology and industry expertise, greater innovation through increased R&D, and world class support," said Oracle President Charles Phillips. "As a result, customers will be able to experience better products, reduced IT complexity and lower costs."

Oracle has reached out to more than 4,500 PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards customers over the past three months, many of whom are embracing the commitment, stability and strength of the combined companies.

At the event, Oracle further illustrated the benefits of the combined companies to the more than 1,300 Oracle and PeopleSoft applications partners.

This newly assembled applications "dream team" of 8,000 application developers will work together to deliver the most modern, Java-based, service-oriented architecture available. In addition to continuing development of Oracle Applications, this enlarged team will also continue to develop the next releases of PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards software.

Around-the-clock support and services available in 27 languages and in more than 90 countries. Oracle's award-winning support organisation will combine with PeopleSoft's technical support talent to back Oracle's commitment to provide world-class support to PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards software users. The combined organisations will consist of more than 6,000 support staff in 16 global support centres.

In the past year alone, Oracle interacted with nearly 2.5 million customers per month through events, conferences, education classes and its website.
