EXEL RENEWS CONTRACT TO MANAGE GENERAL MOTORS' PROMOTIONAL LITERATURE OPERATIONS

Exel, the global leader in supply chain management, has renewed its mailing and literature contract for GM brands, Vauxhall and Saab, in the UK. This means that Exel will be responsible for preparing and dispatching promotional literature to all Vauxhall and Saab dealers across the UK.

Orders are received directly from Vauxhall and Saab's nationwide network of over 500 dealers. At an 80,000 sq ft warehouse in Luton, Bedfordshire, the 18-strong Exel team stores, picks, packs and dispatches promotional literature including price guides, brochures and posters.

The warehouse also acts as an overflow facility for Vauxhall's Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Luton. Non-strategic parts, such as door panels, exhausts and windscreens, are stored here, picked and shipped to Vauxhall's PDC.

In addition, the Exel team stores, picks and packs airbags and seat belt tensioners, acting on orders received directly from the Vauxhall and Saab dealer network. Exel also deploys warranty airbags before they are recycled.

Annually, Exel fulfils approximately 100,000 dealer orders, completes 1,000 direct mailings and picks and dispatches around 10,000 airbags and seat belt tensioners.

Simon Hobbs, Automotive Director UK at Exel, commented, "GM's decision to renew the mailing and literature contract is further recognition of the excellent service provided by the Exel team in Luton."

Exel has a strong global relationship with GM, with both inbound and aftermarket operations in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
