COGNITION WINS TWO MAJOR NAVAL DEFENCE CONTRACTS

Cost control and six-sigma management software specialist, Cognition Europe has won two major contracts to supply its Enterprise Cost Management (ECM) software to both the US and French navies.

Through the orders, Cognitions ECM systems will support Life Cycle Cost Management and Design-To-Cost in ship building activities associated with the French Direction des Constructions Navales and the US navys DD-X defence program.

By providing a simple and effective way of viewing and managing cost, weight, value and risk estimates from a variety of applications, ECM will enable both project teams to work collaboratively, to share information with suppliers and to streamline reporting to their respective governments.

ECM provides traceability of each estimate by a wide variety of criteria; including author, date, application, or cost assumptions. It also allows ad hoc queries on cost status or drivers, as well as the management of all trade studies and cost reduction initiatives. Furthermore, it will compile customised reports for the entire program, or any of its sub-sets, on demand.

We are delighted to have been selected for both these prestigious contracts, comments Cognition Europes Melanie Smart; especially as the business has been won in the face of stiff international competition. The orders build on our softwares success in promoting collaborative working across departmental, corporate and national boundaries in the automotive and aerospace industries. They are a positive endorsement of ECMs ability to handle the large enterprise, complex product, multi-expertise management projects that are typical of the ship-building sector.
