Supply-Chain Council-North America Releases Understanding SCOR Package

The Supply-Chain Council-North America (SCC-NA), a Chapter of the Supply-Chain Council, Inc., (SCC) has released an updated version of Understanding SCOR. This compilation of information is designed to facilitate an understanding of the Supply-Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR) by consolidating basic information about the Model onto a CD for easy distribution. The content can also be found on the SCC website at http://www.supply-chain.org/Understanding_SCOR/6_1/index.htm.

The Supply-Chain Council has been gathering material that can assist companies in their desire to understand and use SCOR since it was created in 1997. While still only a beginning, this new Understanding SCOR web page and CD consolidates it all into one, more easily accessible, package, said Bill Hakanson, SCC Executive Director. The resources that have been gathered show the power of this tool to transform supply chains.

SCOR is a process reference model that allows companies to transform their supply chains by mapping their supply chain processes, determining where weak links exist, employing best practices, and measuring performance against industry benchmarks. Consisting of several increasingly detailed layers, SCOR allows companies to examine their supply chain processes and their relationships between partners, suppliers and customers. Companies using SCOR have seen dramatic ROI and savings due to increased supply chain efficiency.

The information on the Understanding SCOR CD-ROM is grouped in the following categories:
SCOR Basics, which provide general information on SCOR through introductory presentations including: a SCOR Overview, How to Use SCOR, and GreenSCOR. Other materials include PDFs of the SCOR Overview brochure, and SCOR Quick Reference Guide. A link to SCOR Version 6.1 and to SCOR Level 1 Metrics Benchmark Data is also provided and is accessible only to SCC members.
SCOR Case Study abstracts of presentations from companies that are implementing SCOR are included on the CD-ROM. A link is also provided for Members to the case study presentation in the SCC Members website.
SCOR-Model Downloads provides links to software provider websites that have incorporated segments of the Model into their products.
Other References lists books published with SCOR content, profiles of SCOR Workshop Instructors, Educational Institutions SCC members, and a Bibliography of SCC and SCOR articles.
