SoftBrands, a global leader in next-generation enterprise software for businesses in the manufacturing and hospitality sectors, today announced that Aqualisa Products Limited successfully upgraded to the latest Fourth Shift release, R7.30.

Under severe pressure to increase production throughput after the launch of a major new product and rapidly growing sales, Aqualisa Products Limited, a market leader in the design and manufacture of domestic bathroom shower systems, chose to update and exploit the potential of its existing SoftBrands Fourth Shift enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

"Improved reporting means that managers get the information they need more quickly, so the speed and quality of decision making is better. Salespeople and engineers in the field also get the information they want sooner and with less effort. And moving to SQL Server for the company's ERP has the added benefit of making exchange of information with other SQL-based applications - such as our field service management system - much easier," said Ian Sadlier, computer services manager, Aqualisa.

In June 2004 Fourth Shift version R7.30 was installed. Using the new database and associated tools, the company then replaced more than a dozen PC management reporting databases and eliminated the overnight transfer of ERP data to a number of PCs.

As a result Aqualisa has been able to significantly raise productivity across its business and improve customer service thanks to a number of new features of the upgrade. These include a Microsoft SQL database and other valuable technical advances. Not only has the level of operational efficiency been raised, but the upgrade meant a number of key business processes could be streamlined and the IT infrastructure itself improved.

Gareth Robinson, vice president of SoftBrands EMEA, said: "Aqualisa has been truly bold and visionary in exploiting the latest technological developments. The company knows that reducing costs is not enough. In today's globally networked, real-time and demand-driven economy Fourth Shift is used to actively support innovation and business growth, not only for product design and manufacture, but also for streamlining business processes and workflow, and aiding strategic supply chain management.

He added: "We look forward to continuing the partnership with competitive players like Aqualisa, helping them add value to their products and services as they become more agile, profitable and world-class enterprises."
