First place for Datalogic in EMEA for hand held readers and industrial stationary scanners. Double the market share and sales of mobile computers in EMEA. These are the results of research on the 2003 trends in the field of ADC, carried out by VDC (Venture Development Corporation), the prestigious firm specialised in technology market research.

Datalogic sustains its leadership in the hand held reader market and that of industrial stationary scanners in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and gains second place in the ratings worldwide. In the mobile computer market (EMEA) Datalogic doubles its market share and sales. These are the main results of research by VDC on the trends in the ADC sector in 2003.

From this data it emerges that in 2003 Datalogic sustained its first place in the ratings for EMEA and further strengthened its absolute leadership in the market for hand held readers and industrial stationary scanners, holding for both a share of about one quarter of the market.

The remarkable results achieved in North America and Asia have enabled Datalogic to climb in worldwide ratings and position itself in second place both for the HHR market as well as that of industrial stationary scanners. Significant increments in sales, a marked growth trend and the conquest of large shares in the global market further confirm Datalogic's leading role on a worldwide level in the ADC sector.

Positively important, in addition, are the results achieved in the market for mobile computers: in 2003 Datalogic almost doubled its market share and sales in EMEA, ranking amongst the top four players in the field. A result that is bound to improve even more in the next few years, also as a consequence of latest investments by the company. In fact, Datalogic recently inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Quinto di Treviso, near Venice, Italy, which is the only plant of its kind to produce mobile computers in Europe, and portends new product launches that will amplify the ranges of professional and industrial portable terminals by Datalogic.

"We are very satisfied with the results achieved in 2003," states Roberto Tunioli, Datalogic Vice Chairman and CEO. "The success attained confirms Datalogic's solidity and that of the results reached so far, but the challenge for us is to continue growing and by this we mean seizing the opportunities of development that present themselves, especially in the area of Asia."
