Sentera and Pro Component to improve the efficiency of Bilia's logistics processes

Sentera Plc, in cooperation with Pro Component Oy / Solutions, will deliver to Bilia in Kaivoksela the Sentera Piccolink Suite handheld terminal solution for monitoring repair shop work processes and the equipment of new cars in real time. Bilia will switch from the old terminal-based solution to handheld terminals in Kaivoksela during autumn 2004.

The solution will be used for the real-time monitoring of logistics processes. The same system can handle work monitoring and statistical tasks as well as the monitoring of small accessories needed in repairs.

About 60 people are responsible for the repair shop operations in Kaivoksela and for the equipping of all new cars. Initially, 30 handheld terminals will be taken into use. In the next stage, Bilia in Olari, Pitjnmki and Hernesaari will implement the system in their repair shop and small spare parts warehouse operations.

"We are looking for a solution that will make our logistics processes more efficient. Sentera Piccolink Suite will speed up the turnaround time of new cars. Furthermore, real-time information leads to faster warehouse turnaround times and makes work monitoring easier," says Pekka Lounio, Bilia's After-Sales Director.

Pro Component Oy / Solutions is in charge of the total delivery. Bilia selected the Finnish Nordic ID's PiccoLink RF600 handheld terminals. Sentera Plc will provide the data system applications for the system as well as integrations to back-end systems.
