G-Log Launches GC3 Version 4.5

G-Log, the leading provider of global logistics and transportation software, today announced the availability of version 4.5 of its Global Command and Control CenterT (GC3T) software. Having collaborated with customers to evaluate which areas of new functionality would add the greatest benefit, the 4.5 release adds significant new features to the GC3 system, including expanded inventory management and international trade management functionality.

The expanded capability of inventory management enables users to have network-wide visibility and status information of all inventory in the supply chain - whether in transit or at rest - with the ability to intelligently evaluate tradeoffs and optimise shipments. The enhanced international trade management functionality allows logistics service providers to use GC3 as their back-office system for managing all of their international trade services and computing landed costs, which is used to determine the profitability of a transaction.

Commenting on the new release of GC3 4.5, Martin Neil, vice president of Global Solutions for Exel said: "With each new release of software, G-Log gives us new opportunities to create value in the supply chain for our customers, employees and shareholders. Powered by a single instance of the GC3 software, Exel provides its customers with a consolidated view of freight flows and detailed stock-level inventory, as well as proactive supply chain event management alerts. With this unique 'glass pipeline' view of their entire logistics network, our customers are executing vendor-managed inventory programs with great success and making their respective supply chains leaner than ever."

GC3 4.5 delivers capabilities for efficiently processing logistics service providers' complex, time-sensitive, cross-border shipments, including ocean booking and route management, rate quoting, commercial invoice creation and management, support for public hazardous material data and export licenses, centralised services management, international financial management and advanced vessel management.

"Outperforming the competition, from a financial and customer service perspective, remains a top priority for most companies, but it's becoming increasingly difficult as supply chains become more complex and fragmented due to globalisation, mergers, acquisitions and other factors," said Adrian Gonzalez, director Logistics Advisory Council, ARC Advisory Group. "Companies must take steps to become more agile and responsive, including re-designing their networks and business processes and investing in technologies that enhance productivity and decision making. G-Log has been particularly successful in helping companies with complex logistics processes and the enhancements in GC3 version 4.5 will be welcomed by customers."

"The extended functionality of GC3 4.5 widens the gap between G-Log and our competitors and takes us one giant step closer to delivering on our integrated logistics management vision," said David Cairns, G-Log CEO. "Backed by strong support from our customers, we are committed to future strategic product development efforts that will make real-time, data-driven logistics planning and execution common business practice."

GC3 is the only single system that can manage an entire logistics network across multiple modes, business units and geographies. G-Log GC3 version 4.5 software is available immediately.
