Aldata received an order from Roche Diagnostics in Germany in May 2003 and the first phase of the delivery has now been successfully completed. The order includes a complete software system for Roche Diagnostics logistic and retail functions in Europe. Roche is implementing a software solution from Aldata Retail Solutions GmbH/Stuttgart that incorporates also new storage areas and reorganizes all material flow activities for Roche. The delivery started in 2003 and will continue until 2005.

Roche Diagnostics runs a highly automated logistics centre in Mannheim to assure the supply chain for its European distribution and production network. The complexity of the business and distribution had to be solved with a solution which is capable of being enhanced and optimized on a permanent basis.

"Through our 10-year cooperation we were able to understand and to solve complex requirements of Roche. A long, customer oriented cooperation has led to a partnership of trust which is a necessary prerequisite for the success of such major project", says Dr. Manfred Alt, Aldatas Vice President, German speaking countries.

"The project covers all base IT control systems up to the ERP interface, which were delivered by Aldatas subcontractors Aberle Steuerungstechnik GmbH/Leingarten and Hardlog GmbH/Dahn. Phase 1, which is based on the available systems and the use of the extended and newly-built storage areas, was realized by the beginning of 2004. The new system will also include flow planning for activity sequencing and capacity usage for the first time", says Dr. Rolf Hiddessen, Project Manager, Aldata Retail Solutions GmbH.
