Synergys Award Winning Locator Expert Warehouse Management System has gone live at Unilever Bestfoods West Thurrock site.
The site which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week has 200 of the worlds leading brands, including such products as Flora, Bertolli and Peperami.
The facility is operated by Exels 190 staff, using Locator Expert to ensure, that over 38 million cases per year are received and despatched to the High Street.
Critical to all FMCG companies is the ability for the Locator Expert system to accurately manage stock rotation and product constraints, whilst ensuring the flow and throughput of product is at its optimum. Locator Experts innovative Rules-Based system allows the operation to quickly adapt to changing conditions within the warehouse and maximise any opportunity.

The success of a Warehouse Management System implementation can be easily gauged by the impact on customer service levels from day one. The Unilever Bestfoods operation, operated by Exel at West Thurrock continued its productivity levels and indeed quickly exceeded previous levels of picking and delivery performance.
Both Unilever and Exel put great emphasis on a comprehensive testing and training regime that ensured all users were proficient in the expected, culture shock that always accompanies revised day-to-day processes and procedures.
