MANDATAS ADVANCED SERVICES TAKES MEEKS CUSTOMERS ONLINE

Heywood-based pallet distribution operator Meek Distribution has installed Mandatas Advanced Services package, allowing its customers to input their own orders directly onto the traffic pad.

According to Managing Director Andy Meek, The advantage to this is that its taking cost out of the system. Before, the customer would have to fax us instructions and we would input them manually into Manpack 3 then contact the customer to confirm the order. Now, they can just key in exactly what they want and see for themselves that the orders on the system. Its a very streamlined system, which means savings in administrative time and therefore money. That, in turn, means we are driving more efficiencies into the business and giving our clients a more cost effective service.

Nor does Andy anticipate the need for much in the way of training because, as he puts it, its just filling boxes on a computer. Mandata worked long and hard with us to get the system the way we wanted. Its almost a tick-the-box system, its so simple, but its taken amazing attention to detail to get it to fit us perfectly.

Advanced Services, Mandatas Internet-based supply chain management solution, was launched in 2003. It is a modular system of which on-line order processing is just one facet: other facilities available include GPRS vehicle tracking, digital POD capture and geo-fencing.

Phase 2 of the installation at Meek Distribution, says Andy, will be online POD. Once our customers have got used to posting orders via Advanced Services, he says, we will introduce the facility for us to post our proofs of delivery back to their secure section of the website. Again, it will be a saving in time: they wont have to ring us and ask for a fax of the POD or even wait for the invoice and we wont have to generate the paperwork and fax it to them.
