Ingram Micro names Datamax-O’Neil as a preferred supplier of thermal barcode printers
November 04, 2009

Datamax-O’Neil, a global provider of label and receipt printing solutions, has been named a preferred supplier of thermal barcode printers for Ingram Micro Inc.

The printers will be used for the next three years at Ingram Micro’s seven North American Distribution Centres for printing approximately one million labels a month for outgoing packages. The Datamax- O’Neil I-Class printer competed against printers from other leading manufacturers, and was selected by Ingram Micro for its high performance, value and reliability.

“We’re pleased to recognise Datamax-O’Neil as one of our preferred suppliers,” said Bob Reid, Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing, Ingram Micro Inc. “Our distribution centres have demanding labelling requirements to fulfil, and as such, we needed a provider with a proven track record and high performance product that could keep up in a fast-paced working environment.” Ingram Micro is a distributor of Electronic and Information Technology Products. The company’s wide network of distribution centres has made them the product fulfilment choice of many large, high profile e-tailers and mail order catalogs, as well as the world’s top IT manufacturers and IT resellers. The distribution centres must operate efficiently and effectively, handling high-volume orders with fast turnaround.

“Datamax-O’Neil is honoured to be selected for this mission-critical requirement and we’re proud that our printers are recognised for their ability to meet the rigorous demands of Ingram Micro’s distribution centres,” said Mike Allocco, Datamax- O’Neil’s general manager of sales for the America’s. “Ingram Micro recognised the I-Class as a reliable, high-performance workhorse, and values Datamax-O’Neil’s reputation for standing by its products with industry leading service and support.” The I-Class is a family of industrial printers that offer reliability and flexibility as well as a modular design that enables field-installable options and provides easy maintenance and repair. The I Class has become a printer of choice for large, multinational operations. However, its sophisticated design and ease of use make the I-Class ideal among facilities of all sizes across the globe where performance and value are prime considerations.
